DEMONSTRATION LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS IV

DEMONSTRATION
LESSON PLAN
IN
MATHEMATICS IV
I.                    Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a.      define radian and degrees
b.      convert angle measure in degrees to radian and vice-versa
II.                  Subject Matter:
Topic: Circular Function and Trigonometry
Subtopic: Degrees and Radians
Materials: Powerpoint Presentation, Wyte board, marker
References: Dilao, Solidad Jose et.al( Advance Algebra, Trigonometry and Statistics)
III.                Teaching Strategies:
A.     Preparatory Activities
1.      Prayer
2.      Greetings
3.      Checking of Attendance
4.      Review
1.      Differentiate the negative and positive angle
2.      How to convert the given angles into degree, minute, seconds
5.      Motivation
Group the students into four groups. The teacher told to the class to create a short poem entitled “MATH is Easy”, using the computer they will present their work to the class with the use of the Powerpoint. The group of the student who can create/make a beautiful essay and presentation can get extra points that serve as his/her recitation to the class.
6.      Lesson Proper
The study of circular function necessitates an understanding of the relationship between the degrees and radians and their corresponding conversions.
The formula for the circumference of the circle of r (radius)
r
= 3.1416 if there is no calculator 3.14 as the value of  can used.
Since the circumference of the circle is subtended by a central angle of 360o, it follows that:
    o
If r= 180 is divided by
             radian = 180o

1 radian= 180o

The value or the equivalent of the degrees to radians
360o= 2r                    60o= r                                45o=  r
180o= r                                3                                         4
90o=   r                       30o= r                            1o=2   or
         3                              6                                               360o   180o

         To summarize conversion:
            To convert radians to degrees, multiply the given number of radians
                        by 180o/.
 Example:
5 = 5  x 180 = 150o
6        6
            To convert degrees to radians, multiply the given number
                        by       .
       180
Example:
50o= 50o x        = 5
                  180o        9

IV.               Generalization
1.      What is the difference between the radians and degrees?
2.      Who can summarize the conversion of radians to degrees, degrees to radians?
